B.2. You have written an e-mail in A. 13. Do you think sending an e-mail is more beneficial than sending a letter by post? Why or why not? Discuss.

Email is generally more beneficial than sending a letter by post due to its speed, cost-effectiveness, and convenience. Emails deliver instantly, are free or low-cost, and allow easy storage and attachments. However, postal letters offer a personal, tangible touch and are better for formal or sentimental purposes, though they’re slower and costlier.

 

B.4. Given below is a summary of the poem. Complete it by writing a suitable word/words in the blank spaces.

The poetess thinks that having a pincode is an old fashioned. She has not written a letter for one year, but she has been able to communicate with all her relatives. The poetess’s brother lives in Florida, with whom she can communicate simply by clicking the mouse of her computer.
There are disadvantages too of e-mail. For example, if a virus gets into your computer, you will be unable to send or receive any mail. The poetess is confused whether the e-mail is a boon or a bane but she loves it even though her mother calls her lazy. According to the poetess, the e-mail is the best creation of God.

Answer – After having discussion over the matter they mention writing long letters, waiting for replies and enjoying the personal touch in handwritten notes.

Their view on the transition to emails:
Most say emails are faster but lack emotional warmth.

Advantages of letter-writing:

  • Feels more thoughtful and sincere
