The story is about a girl named Alice who feels invisible and unpopular at school. One day, she covers for Kirsty, a classmate, during a train incident and later again when Kirsty damages a classroom. Gradually, Alice is drawn into Kirsty’s secret “Girl Gang,” a group of rebellious girls who take revenge on people they believe have treated them unfairly. Alice participates in one such incident involving vandalism with apples. Though nervous, she is thrilled to be included. Eventually, she is nominated to officially join the group, feeling a sense of belonging for the first time.
