Prepositions

Look at the picture. Then read the story given along with it. Fill up the missing parts in the story to complete it.

Note: The filled words (on, of, under, in, for, down) are prepositions that show relationships between nouns or pronouns.

The little puppy is very naughty. Look at him! He cannot sit silently even for a minute. Given below are some pictures of him taken by his master, Ankur. Write six sentences about him using the clues from the Aid Box (given on the next page) along with the pictures. The first one has been done for you.

Little Johnny

Little Johnny was sitting on a bench in a park. He was looking at the colourful butterflies. Suddenly an old man came and sat beside him. The man took out a book from his bag and started reading. After about half an hour, the man got up and went away. Johnny noticed a black wallet below the bench. He found some cash and a few slips inside the wallet. He looked around the man and saw him standing on the road. He ran and handed him his wallet. The old man thanked him and blessed him. Johnny felt proud of his good deed.

Shruti is on a holiday in Nepal. She decides to send a postcard to her mummy and papa. She has written the postcard but she has left certain blanks. Help her fill these blanks so that she can send the postcard as early as possible.

Dear Mummy and Papa,
I am on a holiday in Nepal. I am staying at Hotel Royalsinge. The hotel is close to the Darbar Square. My room is on the fourth floor. The view of the city is very clear from here. I stayed at my friend’s place for the first day as no room was vacant in the hotel. The food is good. I will be staying here for a week.

  1. Complete the following story.
    Ritika and Saksham were good friends. Some days ago, they went to a park. The two of them played for some time. Ritika saw a little puppy sitting under a tree. It was licking its paw. Ritika went near it and picked it up. Saksham was scared of doing that. When Ritika picked up the puppy in her hands, it started licking her. A thorn in the paw had caused a wound there. She removed the thorn. They took the puppy along with them and applied some medicine to its wound. Two days later, the puppy went back to the park happily.
