Thrill In School Life, My English Reader, Class VI, DAV Board, The Best, Section – A

Introduction

  1. Which of the statements below is the most thrilling for you and why? Discuss in pairs.

Most thrilling statement: “A school trip to a hill station is exciting.”

Why?
I find this the most thrilling because school trips are a break from regular classes and offer a chance to explore new places with friends. The travel, the games, the night stays, the campfires — everything feels like an adventure. Especially going to a hill station, with scenic views and fresh air, makes it a lifetime memory. The laughter and bonding on such trips stay with you forever!

II. Narrate to your partner any of your memorable experiences at school. Write the account in detail for an unknown friend, on the basis of the headings below.

Starting Point:

Last year, our school organized a trip to Manali, a beautiful hill station in Himachal Pradesh. I had never seen snow before, so I was beyond excited. We boarded the school bus at 10 p.m., carrying our bags, snacks, and tons of energy.

Account of What Happened:

The journey was filled with songs, laughter, and card games. When we finally reached Manali, the mountains were covered with snow and looked like a dream! We stayed in a wooden lodge with a fireplace. On the second day, we went snow trekking, built snowmen, and had a snowball fight. I slipped many times, but we couldn’t stop laughing. In the evening, we sat around a bonfire, shared stories, danced, and enjoyed hot chocolate. It felt like a scene from a movie!

Conclusion:

The trip helped me bond better with my classmates and teachers. It taught me how to be responsible while having fun. Even today, whenever I look at those pictures, it brings a smile to my face. That trip is one of my most cherished memories, and I’m so glad I got to experience it with my friends.
